Kame Trick is a solo web project dedicated to promoting news and information about the local SCCA Solo 2 (autocross) driving events in my area and follow my progress during the 2009 season. In August 2003 I created the first of several websites to cover my driving experiences. They took several different forms through the years and at the beginning of 2008, in the mountainous Yamanashi Prefecture of central Japan, Kame Trick was founded as the new face for my car activities.
As for me, I’ve been doing competitive driving since 2003; primarily in the form of SCCA Solo 2 events. For the last 4 years I’ve also attended one or two drift practice sessions annually.
In the beginning I attended events sparsely to experiment with the car and I began tuning which moved me from G Stock into the ST classes. During the 2005 season I learned the basics of my drift technique on the narrow sharp curves of autocross courses. The following year I combined my drifting experience with grip driving to make a serious effort at pushing my undertuned STS car to a trophy finish for the season. I met with partial success but due to an unexpected surgery I had to sit out 3 or 4 events. I finished with 7 races attended, 5 trophy finishes, and the 4th place trophy for the 2006 championship in my region. In 2007 I moved to Japan to embark on a 1 year study abroad. While in Japan I enjoyed many Japanese car and driving events from Tokyo Auto Salon to local circuit drift days, even hitting the mountain roads to drift with friends. Returning stateside in 2008 I reentered the autocross world to find new competitors and old rivals who’d gotten faster. It was a challenging year but I again claimed the 4th place trophy for the STS regional championship.
Kame Trick will announce the latest news of industry events I go to and cover Solo2 and drifting events I will be attending in the KY/OH/IN area. If you’re around stop by and say hello. And if you aren’t into Solo2, give it a try!
